Another lesson is mentioned the rest of the story concerning Amewakahiko. Listening the cry of the wife of Amewakahiko, his farter, Amatukunitama-no-kami, recognized that his son had passed away. Thus he made his son’s body float up to the Takamanohara and held a funeral for him. Then because the family of Amewakahiko mistook his friend, Ajisukitakahikone-no-kami, who had come up to there from Ashihara-no-nakatu-kuni for the funeral, for Amewakahiko, and was glad that he was still alive, Ajisukitakahikone-no-kami flight into a rage and thrust the funeral down to the Izumo. This lesson is that thou shalt not mistake the living for the deceased.
