Furthermore, it may be that the composer of the Chronicle of Japan would have attached more importance to the religious status of Amaterasu-oomikami than that of the Kojiki, who emphasized co-governance of two deities, Amaterasu-oomikami and Takamimusuhi-no-mikoto. Certainly, it seems to be unsuitable for Amaterasu-oomikami to make political or military decision for a sort of conquest. The composer must have wished that this generous and benevolent female goddess should remain within a religious authority reigning over the nation.
