One of these unique theories is that the Hata clan would have been a part of the tribes of Israel who had dispersed since the captivity of Israel by Assyria in B.C. 8th century and in the Diaspora of Judah in B.C. 6th century. They take notice of the art of sericulture that the Hata clan brought into Japan by way of the Silk Road, on which a smart number of the tribes of Israel had settled, and of the family crests, a symbol of a ship having been used by posterities of the Hata clan. And particularly Zebulon, who was one of the ten tribes of Israel, also had used a symbol of a ship as their crest[i].
