Was Yata-no-karasu a Human being

Yata-no-karasu also was appreciated its activities, so that his offspring became “Agata-nushi” of Kazuno-no-tonomori. It seems to be curious that Yatano-karasu was granted such a reward by the Sumera-mikoto, because it should have been nothing but a bird, not a human-being.

Who was Turugi-ne?

It is wonder that the editor of the Chronicles of Japan had not referred to activities and contributions of Turugine on the eastern expedition of the Sumera-mikoto. However, it is probable that Turugine should have been a leading player when they slew Tutigumo in Takaowari village. For after that, the name of the village was changed into Katuragi.

Fifthly, the Sumera-mikoto bestowed the title of “Agata-nushi” of Isoshiki also upon Oto-shiki, whose former name was Kro-haya. Moreover, he appointed a subject called Turugine as the Kuni-no-miyatuko of Katuragi.

Fourthly, the Sumera-mikoto bestowed Takeda village and the title of “Agata-nushi of Takeda” upon Oto-Ukashi, who was the ancestor of Motohitora of Uda. “Agata-nushi” has been explained a chief or something like a proconsul of a local district, who lately came to be responsible for the administration of the land under the direct control of the central government, “Chotei.”

Thirdly, the Sumera-mikoto appointed Shii-ne-tu hiko, who was formerly an earthy deity of Haya-sui-nato and the first subject of the Sumera-mikoto, as the Prefecture [Kuni-no-miyatuko] of Yamato. By the way, we have regarded sometimes “Yamato,” which is a place name, as one of the national name or of the dynasty of Japan. Considering this convention, Yamato would have meant the Metropolitan area of the ancient Japan.

The Reward for Michi-no-omi-no-mikoto

The Sons of the Sumera-mikoto

On the regnal year, the Sumera-mikoto paid reverence and conferred the title of the Kou-gou to Hime-tatara-isuzu-hime-no-mikto. The Kou-gou bored two sons, Kamu-yai-mimi-no-mikoto and Kamu-nunakawa-mimi-no-mikoto. It is a wonder that editor of the Kojiki enumerated another son, Hiko-yai-no-mikoto, who was the eldest among these princes.
