Hearing the answer of Susanou-no-mikoto that he had no intention to assault Takamanohara, Amaterasu-oomikami asked him again to prove his innocence truthfully. In this scene, Susanou-no-mikoto proposed Amaterasu-oomikami a way of verification, which is called “Ukehi” in Japanese. It is said that this curious Japanese custom, Ukehi, is a kind of ancient divination to judge the truth or the false. In order to prove what one said true, the words that one had declared before beginning the ritual should have to become to truth.
