熱狂的群集は怖い

熱狂的群集というと思い出されるのが、ドイツのナチ党大会の広場を埋め尽くす群衆、天安門広場を埋め尽くす群衆、北朝鮮のマスゲームなどをつい思い出していしまう。熱狂している群衆はすでに恍惚状態になり、理性を失っているように感じる。今回の米国のオバマ新大統領就任式などもその熱狂ぶりは民主国家と思えないよう有様である。もう、米国のマスコミもオバマ大統領歓迎一色である。みんな口を封じられ、それに反対することができないような雰囲気である。融和の象徴のように言われているが、一歩誤ると、逆に社会分断へと歩みだす第一歩である危険がることに気がついているだろうか。この宴のあとに米国民が現実の世界に戻った時が恐ろしい。
